Bellyful of Slugs

The #7 Single of 2011 on WFMU DJ Evan "Funk" Davies's Favorite Singles of 2011!
Hank IV's new SS single surges onto Vice magazine writer Tony Rettman's hypothetical Best-Records-of-the-Year-So-Far-Because-I-Can't-Think-of-Anything-Else-to-Write-About List! "The A side is a chrome-plated cover of Kim Salmon's 'Bellyful of Slugs,' while the B side is an absolute scorcher of an original..."

Scott Soriano speaks enlisting Hank IV to the SS roster: "While I was organizing SS10, the label's tenth anniversary festival, the Hanks and I got to talking about doing a single. 'Sure thing!' When they sent me their heavy, urban street swamp version of Kim Salmon & the Surrealists's 'Bellyfull of Slugs,' I replied with "A side!" Soon after "Cold Equation" came my way and I knew that this punk ripper would be a great B side. And here we have Hank IV's first record on S.S., five years later than I wanted but well well worth the wait." Find it now at your local shop or order direct from SS, Midheaven, Bomp, Goner or Forte in the UK.

Hank IV's third album, III, is also available on Siltbreeze. Vinyl LPs (with free digital download card) are available through finer brick-and-mortar retailers like Amoeba and Goner, and digital downloads of the album can be had through iTunes, Amazon, Revolver and other top-shelf cyber music dispensaries.

No relation whatsoever to the Hank Williams clan, San Francisco quintet Hank IV's hard-charging and visceral dual-guitar rock punk has been likened to "Crime meets Viletones meets Styrenes" (Z-Gun Magazine) and described by WFMU's DJ Terre T as "a sick combination of Volcano Suns, Blue Cheer and Chain Gang!"
